Lifting for Lilly Charity

Lifting for Lilly Charity

What makes a house a home? Most often the answer is the people who live there. At 23 Pinckney Dr., that couldn’t be more true.

I had the pleasure of meeting the seller, Bronwen Ward, over a series of agonizing experiences… we were working out together. As our friendship grew at the gym, I learned more about her family. Bronwen and her husband, Adrian, have 2 daughters, Hannah and Lily. Hannah is a very intelligent, responsible, fun-loving ninth grade student and has been selected as a “Student to Watch” because of her academic success. Lily is a little ball of fire who happens to have Angelman Syndrome. This is a neuro-genetic disorder that has characteristics that may include developmental delay, lack of speech, seizures, and walking and balance disorders. You can find more information at www.cureangelman.org. Needless to say, on top of their everyday activities and responsibilities, this family takes on a lot.

Last spring, at the same gym that Bronwen and I still voluntarily return to, I helped organize Lifting for Lily. This event was put together to help offset costs for equipment that Lily needed as a result of not only getting bigger, but mastering new motor skills, such as pulling herself up to stand. It was a wonderful day with amazing people and an astounding outpouring of love and support from the entire community!

Shortly after, Lily’s new size and strength made it clear that it was time for the Ward family to find a new house. In their two story colonial, it was necessary for someone to carry Lily up and down the stairs. This was proving to be a task too difficult and dangerous for their family.

So as a Ward family friend and advocate, I was honored to become their real estate agent. I have worked to find them a beautiful home that will provide single floor living for Lily while still giving the rest of the family spaces of their own. I have negotiated terms for them that include having a builder offering a new type of flooring that will suit Lily’s needs as well as a time frame that will work for them. Rather than a “one size fits all” transaction, the Ward family is getting The Lundmark Group service every step of the way.

So when they say goodbye to 23 Pinckney Dr., it is because they have a new house to make a home.
