The Color Run!

Color Me FUN!

 

As some of you may know, I was an educator before I chose to become a real estate agent. I spent my years teaching kindergarten, first and second grade students. I enjoyed devoting my time to lesson planning and relished in the moments watching their progress and successes. However, no matter how much time I had, it never seemed like enough. I relied on countless parent volunteers and the support of the PTO.

Last year my son entered into kindergarten and I entered a whole new side of education…the parent side. Knowing how important parental involvement is to a child and school’s success, I joined the PTO and have volunteered as often as I could.

For the second year now, I am helping to organize and will participate in his school’s Color Run.

Kings Highway Elementary School hosting this run at Layton Park in Wagontown, on September 26 at 10 am, rain or shine.  All the proceeds from this event will directly benefit the students through PTO funded activities, field trips, assemblies and supplies.

This will be an un-timed 5K course starting and ending at Layton Park and looping the Coatesville Reservoir.  There are several stations along the route where runners are “painted” with color. Participants of all athletic abilities are welcome, including families and strollers.  Athletes can run or walk through the course and get doused with colored powder at stations along the way.  The Coatesville Country Club will have a water station set up about half way through the course.

I have truly enjoyed working closely with the other organizers, teacher Traci Tury and secretary Kelly Stauffer. Last year our combined efforts raised over $10,000 and we are hoping to do the same if not better this year.

My family and I had a blast at this event last year and I would like to invite you and yours to participate this year!

If interested, you can register at secondwind.webconnex.com/explosion until September 24 for a discounted rate of $35 and to ensure they receive a t-shirt. Day-of Race Registration is also available for a fee of $40, but a t-shirt is not guaranteed. Registration will begin at 8:00 am. There will be a variety of vendors and activities will kick-off at 9:00 with a performance by Russell’s Baton and Dance.  Race time is 10:00.

It is going to be a colorful day full of fitness and fun and I hope to see you there!
